My first knitting sale ever, chirashi recipe, the sky is falling

After six weeks of incessant knitting, some struggles with my own pride, alot of yarn, creating signs, stitching up seams, choosing colors, and some worrying but alot of fun, my church's women's brunch finally came!

I sold my FlyGirl caps, Flower Garnishes, and felted potholders.

It is unbelievable how much work went into it and how many great conversations I had surrounding during the process. I have always wanted to share my art with others but with writing, especially screenwriting, there was always a very competitive vibe which came inevitably. I realized that in the process of sharing any part of my talents, alot of pride comes in the way. God really revealed to me His presence, His care and His counselling throughout this whole process.

What an amazing amount of peace I had in the last few days! I was astounded by how level headed I felt. It reminded me that He "will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast, because he trusts in you." Isaiah 26.

My roommates, Eliz, Clee, and Sandra all came to the brunch as well as did my coworker, Marisela. They are all such wonderful women. Thank you for sacrificing your time, money, and Saturday morning, sleep, ladies!

Ok, gear shift: I've been promising many people out there about a supposed set of Space Invaders socks that I made. Here they are:

Chris tries on the sock ... Wait a minute, give that back! Its for my brother's birthday!

And here is my bro, camera shy, with one sock. The other sock is in the Intergalactic knitting queue. Maybe the sky is falling.

Since we're on random topics, I wanted to say that I love Chirashi sushi. Chirashi means "scattered" in Japanese, and essentially it is like your Burrito Bowl - all the contents thrown into... a bowl! I modified a few recipes and Chris ate it very happily. I call him Chirashi Nadolski.

Michelle's Tuesday Night Chirashi Recipe

1 Cucumber, julienne strips
Bean sprouts
Negri Toro Tuna - mashed, diced
Sushi Salmon - diced (and no, you can't just get regular salmon)
Shiitake mushrooms
Ponzu Sauce
Dashi fish soup base
Soy Sauce
Brown Rice
Kikkoman Sweet Sake "Mirin"
Sriracha Hot Sauce- or otherwise known as Rooster sauce!

Cook brown rice. Mix a packet of Dashi. Put in two-three dashes of Mirin and some soy sauce. Cut off stems from mushrooms and let mushrooms cook until sauce has thickened. Chill mushroooms then cut into strips.

In bowl, place rice first. Then in sections all other ingredients.

To make the sauce, and I'm proud to say I invented this (or maybe someone else did, who knows!), take the Ponzu sauce and put a tspoon of Sriracha in there, mix well. Then drizzle over all of salad. You're done! YUM YUM YUM

Thanks for reading! Time to go eat ravenously.

Awesome! Have you ever visited the website: www.etsy.com ?
Its my new favorite website where you can buy and sell handmade crafts! Would be a perfect place to sell your stuff if you were interested. I bought some really cute stuff off the website and the website design is so neat-o. I should be getting paid for this plug! :) Mika

Bethany - THANK YOU! I would love to have you and Amy over for Chirashi - I have to admit, the Chirashi that Hsiao got me into in SD is better than my own.. however very spicy and no brown rice...

VSJ - You are very sweet... Thank you for a being a support.
