In remembrance - a day without planes

It seems that after five years, we are still in awe of having been attacked by terrorists. And such a cruel attack, navigating our own planes with defenseless lives in peril, all in the name of "God."

This morning, I was listening to Family Life radio where they recounted a conversation between Todd Beamer, who was aboard United 93, and a GTE operator. He asked the operator to recite the Lord's prayer with him. The last words heard before he hung up were, "Let's roll." One can only imagine what happened thereafter - but we know that an act of heroism and an act of LIFE giving self sacrifice (that's different from "suicide" btw, you see?) forced the plane to land in an open field in Shanksville, PA and not into our country's capitol.

C once observed that heroism and bravery is not catalyzed by an opportunity which requires it. It exists before that opportunity ever existed. That is, we don't suddenly decide to be brave - its there or isn't. And I believe that inside all of us, deep down, we have it in us to be brave, because we all have faith. Yes, even those who do not ascribe to a "religion" - you have faith. You must or else you would never take a risk. How many times have you wished you could've done something differently? There is the you that you wish you were. And then there's you. The thing is, the perspective of who you are is only limited by what you think of yourself, because God certainly has invested greatness in us!

Today is a day of remembrance, prayer, and love. Be exceptionally good to each other and stand up for what you believe in.
