16 May 2005 - Madrid, Spain

My flight from London to Madrid was delayed for an hour because the French are striking, (cos they are French), and they are refusing to allow certain planes to cross their country, etc., et. Otherwise, I advise on flying EasyJet which was a nice experience totally.

Madrid is great so far. There is a hustle and bustle of every big metropolitan city, but Madrid has a lightness to it. Also, I love their metro system, and the stations are sparkling clean. I´m amazed. On top of that, everything is SO affordable compared to London and Paris. Things are good so far, I am staying at a budget pensione called Hostal Mirentxu. I have my own room, which is nice, and the SeƱora is nice, although she keeps insisting that I have to pay to make my toll free call for my calling card, and I keep saying, llamada gratuita, but she doesn´t seem to think so. The hotel is near the Museo del Prado, the Thyssien, and the Reina Sofia, the three main museums, so I am happy.

I know you guys are going to be disappointed, but I am goign to sleep early. I am so tired after having woken up at 5.30 am from London and then being bussed around the London countryside forever, it seemed! Ok, early start tomorrow.

Buenos tardes!
