Caffeine Withrawal & White Anglo Males

(I feel like there's someone grabbing my head cos I haven't had my morning coffee yet. Oy! Help me!! I'm trying to ween myself off slowly cos I'm highly dependent.)

Last night at our women's group, we talked about how Jesus was an attractive guy. As Kim said, "That is, he's not the hot white Anglo male." (That's not to say non-white Anglo males are not good looking, cos they are!). It is amazing, in a world so based on looks and image, how if Jesus walked by, I might not have been prone to sit at his feet and listen to him. Yet if he looked like , we might! God made him plain, then furthermore, he was marred beyond recognition on the cross so that His very heart might shine through! All this for us, so that we could have freedom. Beth Moore said, paraphrasing, That upon the moment that Jesus was on the cross, every shame, sin, perversion and inequity in the world, past and future, was heaped upon him, so that we could be set free.

That's a huge gift. And yet it seems kind of ... foreign the whole thing. That is, how does it apply to our everyday lives, etc. I dare to ask, How doesn't it?

As Callista once said, the world makes a whole lot more sense with the events surrounding Jesus having taken place. Everything - that is pain, happiness, joy, suffering - makes more sense.

Does it make sense to you?

My girlfriends have always told me that women are more forgiving when it comes to their men's looks.

I always reply, "uh...thanks honey."
