Lazarus - reborn and all mine.

After three years and thousands of dollars thereafter, I finally own my lovely graphite grey Toyota Corolla S series! I received in the other day, the wonderful lien, shimmery and pink. I would've taken a picture of it and posted it here, but it beholds a bunch of personal info that I prefer to keep from the public. Such as my favorite jelly bean flavor. Whatever.

As some of you may recall, I crashed the same model, make and color of aforementioned car six weeks after I got my first one. In a strange stroke of irony, I received that following week, its license plates. I still have them and they serve as a strong reminder that God saved my life for a reason.

With my insurance money, I bought a new car. I was encouraged by many to buy a different car, a different color, etc., so that I would not be in the same car I that I totalled on the 10 freeway. But I remember talking to my friend Stephen who said, "That was the car you wanted! Don't let anyone steal that from you!" So there I was purchasing the same car 3 months later. You can imagine the reaction on my dealer's face. They wished me well, and said that when they wanted more of my business, they didn't mean it like that.

That following week, a few of my friends anointed my car with oil, as they commonly do in the Bible and said a prayer of protection over it. I named my car Lazarus, for the figure who rose from the dead.

Ah, my cute little automobile! How well you've served me and how many good times we've had! While other people drove around in expensive SUV's and paid too much for gas, you rewarded me with plenitude in your MPGs. While there are faster cars, you have more seating space. While other cars may tout their cuteness as a selling factor (MINI Cooper?), your trunk space can still readily fit a few bodies (not that I would know). Thank you for your road trips, your cooperation, your low maintenance. That said, I believe I owe you a car-washing...

Sigh.

I think I just wrote a love letter to my car! Yay! I own something!

Pretty cool!! I can't wait for the day when I can finally say I fully own my car. I'm still a year away.
