Cos it keeps on giving

Our coworker Taworia is leaving for New York City to work for crazy, entertaining and wonderful blue men. I'm proud, excited and envious of her all at the same time. I have always wanted to live in the Big Apple - the energy, the excitement, culture and comraderie of people living in city life rolled into the lore of the place that is New York City. Having been born in a big city, it just seems to be in my blood. Yet I wonder how I would cope without the laid back attitudes of lovely California, the never endless summers of SoCal, and the ability to just drive anywhere at any time.

One thing's for sure. I will continue to send knitted items back to the East Coast while we're back here sitting outside in 80 degree weather. So I figured, I might as well send some warmth with Taworia. With Kristin's ingenuity, we pulled together some yarns that I already had and made T a scarf and hat set! Green is her favorite color. Kristin made the scarf and I the hat.

Everytime someone opens one of my knitted gifts, I am reminded that the sole purpose of why I create and give is not for practical reasons (though that is not without merit!), but primarily because it warms our souls, not just our bodies.

There is a way that when we make something to give away, we infuse our very own selves into the thing we give. And though we give it away, what we get in return is ten times more than what we parted with. And that's eternal.
